Chaim Potok 1929-2002
Death celebrates life. All of us share it. Hopefully, not too soon. Some add to the common experience more than others, Chaim's death sent me climbing through my library, where I found a copy of The Chosen to add to the little pile of books I need to read. Sorry, but his History of the Jews will have to wait for quieter times for me.As one of my teachers, Miss Mereson, once said of my work, searching for a reason to give me a decent grade, "there's not much here, but what you have is good." Chaim Potok was not prolific, but what he had was good, indeed. And it's all still here, waiting to enrich us.
